Do you remember a eureka moment in your journey from religion to reason? Or was it a gradual transition? We learn from each other’s stories, so tell yours!
American culture is saturated with stories about faith, but the journey from religion to reason is rarely written about.
To help you help you tell your story, the Sacramento Freethinkers Atheists & Nonbelievers (FAN) is hosting a writing workshop, lead by advice columnist and talk show host, Joey Garcia, on September 29, from 1-4 pm at the Reason Center.
Workshop CostsPRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED.* Early-bird: $30 through Sunday, Sept. 23.* Regular fee: $35 after Sept. 23.* Registration closes Thursday, Sept. 27 at midnight.* To register and pay:https://www.paypal.me/askjoeyor contact her at:email@example.com.
In this workshop you will discover how to write about your experience of leaving religion so readers experience your eureka moment and awaken to their own rational enlightenment.
We will also discuss methods of writing to bridge faith-based divides and dismantle inherited beliefs. In the process, you will learn how to easily manage the fear of revealing personal details about yourself, family or friends.
By the end of the workshop, you will have a rough draft of a memoir or personal essay and a clear direction for its completion. Please bring a notebook and two pens, or your laptop computer.
