Sacramento is filled with gorgeous hiking places, ranging from riverside nature to rugged hills. Join us for a hike event each 1st Saturday of the month to one of these sites, meet new people, and observe nature.

Our hike for this time is to Avery’s Pond Trail, north of Folsom Lake. This is a moderate hike full of scenery, creeks, watching birds, and enjoying the nature.

Access: Drive I-80 north, take exit 110/Horseshoe Bar Rd. Take a left at the end of the ramp to Horseshoe Bar Rd, take a left to stay on Horseshoe Bar Rd. Stay on Horseshoe Bar Rd for 3.4 miles Auburn-Folsom Rd. Turn left onto Auburn-Folsom Rd and drive for 2.3 miles and take a right onto Newcastle Rd. Drive 1 mile and take a right onto Rattle-snake Rd. Drive down Rattle-snake Rd until you reach the kiosk. There is a $12 access fee that must be paid at the kiosk, bring a pen to fill in the info. We will gather in the parking lot at 10 am. I’ll be carrying a MEETUP sign

Total length: 4 miles.
Configuration: Out-and-back.
Difficulty: moderate.
Scenery: foothill forest surrounding Lake, Newcastle hydropower plant.
Exposure: shaded.
Trail surface: Duff and dirt.
Nice to have things: Trekking poles, Selfie stick, bottle of water.

Note: Please confirm you attendance in a comment same day between 5am and 8am. if less than a total of 4 people from both groups (SACFAN and Reason Center) confirm by comments within this time window, then event is automatically canceled. I will send a notification in this case.
