Are you concerned about the new mRNA (messenger RNA) vaccines? (Moderna and Pfizer/BioNTech.) Are they too good to be true? Do you want to better understand where they came from, how they were developed, and whether they were rushed to market? And most importantly, are they safe? Dr. Sunny Marlow did too, so she decided to look into their origins and how they work. She describes her exploration of the scientific research and understanding of messenger RNA. Come join us as we explore the history and science behind the mRNA vaccines, how they were developed, why they rose to prominence in the covid era, and why they aren’t as new as you might think.

She has taught study-abroad programs in Italy and Peru, and in 2016 served as the historian on an expedition staff in Antarctica. She has also been a presenter on cruise ships talking about history and exploration. Among her favorite destinations are Antarctica, Greenland, and Africa. She and her husband live on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State; in her spare time, she rides her Andalusian horse and plans adventures.
