Happy Holidays and to all Reason Center Supporters, Members, Family, Friends and Everyone!
How do we say this, maybe “2020 has been an interesting year”? Full of challenges for everyone, with ups and downs at every turn. While we don’t have so many in person social memories to remember, we do have on line events that have helped keep us in touch and together as much as is safe! As adherents to reason, that is the least we could do. There is so much more we can do moving into 2021, and work towards a better future for all.
Reason Center is going to be helping to achieve more positive interactions with all members of society, and will be providing space soon to make that easier. In order to do that we need support to get there. We can use more volunteers in a variety of roles, from just attending on line events, to helping run those events, to helping us move forward with our facility goals. If you would like to help, contact us at reasoncenter@gmail.com, or visit our website calendar at reasoncenter.org/event-calendar/ and sign up for a committee if you will.
We also need financial support, which is the primary reason for this letter going out today. It’s the end of the year, and if you haven’t donated for 2020 now is the time. One important thing that has changed this year is that the Cares Act allows for up to $300 in CASH contributions to be deducted from your income taxes, even if you don’t itemize your deductions and instead take the standard deduction. For more information about that go to: https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/how-the-cares-act-changes-deducting-charitable-contributions
There are several ways that you can help us financially. The most timely would be to give up to $300 in cash (check credit card or online payments qualify as cash) before the end of the year as mentioned above so that you can take advantage of the new deduction.
Another way to help Reason Center is to go to our website https://reasoncenter.org/donate/#!form/Donate and set up monthly donations. While we don’t have as much in monthly costs right now, since we don’t have a facility currently, we do anticipate getting a new one in the near future and to have more funds coming in on a monthly basis now helps us budget for what kind of a facility we can afford.
Reason Center has also established an endowment account with the Sacramento Region Community Foundation, which pays an annual dividend from funds that are donated to that account. If you want a very secure way to donate that insures that your donation will be there for years to help Reason Center, we can send you the information on how to make a donation to this fund.
And last but not least, Reason Center is starting a GoFundMe campaign, https://charity.gofundme.com/o/en/campaign/new-reason-center-home, to raise funds to buy our own new Reason Center. This is our major push to acquire a place to call our Reason Center home for the long term, and provide all with a place to promote reason and understanding through educational channels.
Join your friends by helping Reason Center one or more of these ways for a brighter future for everyone.
