**Our Next Book Club Selection: Allow Me to Retort: A Black Guy’s Guide to the Constitution, Elie Mystal Chapters 8-14

Elie Mystal, a commentator and lawyer, argues in his book that Republicans often misinterpret the law, particularly regarding issues like the First and Second Amendments, the death penalty, and police violence against people of color. His book, “Allow Me to Retort,” guides understanding and arguing against these misinterpretations. It covers gerrymandering, voter suppression, privacy rights, and substantive due process. Mystal also discusses how stop-and-frisk is an unconstitutional policy of racial discrimination and how the Fourteenth Amendment once made white supremacist policies illegal.

We hold monthly book club discussions based on a selected book.
Those who attend the book club discussions can recommend future books to read.
