Birds as a Window into the Environment: Chris Conard

There are more than 300 species found in the Sacramento area. They survive, and many thrive, in just about every conceivable niche, including habitats highly altered by humans. We’ll have a brief overview of the diversity in our area, in terms of taxonomy–from ducks to eagles, hummingbirds to sparrows, as well as lifestyle–year-round residents, highly migratory species, birds of the marshes, forests, and grasslands. Some have adapted remarkably well to ag lands and urban areas, while others are at risk of vanishing from our region.

Chris Conard is a Natural Resource Specialist at the Bufferlands in Sacramento County. He regularly leads field trips for Sacramento Audubon Society, serves as a county reviewer for eBird, and is a past president of the Central Valley Bird Club.

We have a potluck after the program. Please join us to get to know the community, but please do not feel obligated to bring a dish. We want to get to know you! Donuts and coffee are provided. Hope to see you there!
